Monogrammed Door Hanger {Last Minute Christmas Gift}

Only two more days until Christmas!! Are you ready?  Have you finished all of your shopping?  Today, we want to share with you a quick and easy last minute Christmas gift idea.

Several weeks ago we attended a Do It Herself workshop at the Home Depot.  Our friend, Erin, from DIY on the Cheap was co-hosting the event.  These events are awesome!! A different project is completed at each workshop so it's a great way to get see a live tutorial and ask questions.

The project we completed at DIH workshop was a Monogrammed Wreath.  Check out DIY on the Cheap for all the details and to see how she used her monogrammed letter.

 Materials Needed for this project:
1/4 inch Plywood
Jigsaw
Sandpaper
Paint
Vinyl Letters
Twine
Cordless Drill with 1/4 in drill bit

Go to the Home Depot's website to learn how to cut out your letter.  They have a great tutorial so there's no need in us recreating one :)

Once you get your letter cut out, sand the edges to smooth them down.

Then it's time to paint!! We used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Paris Grey for the base coat and then we lightened the paint with white paint for the circles.

We traced around the bottom of a small jar for the circles and then painted them in by hand.  We wanted this piece to be a little distressed looking so we weren't worried with staying in the lines.

Once the letter is completely dry it's time to adhere your vinyl letters.  We put the couple's last name on the letter along with the year they got married.  You can purchase sticker letters from you local craft store or you can make your own with the Silhouette Cameo.

After the letters are attached you'll want to finish the piece with a poly.  This will help protect it from the elements.

We used twine to hang the letter.  This is our favorite way to hang signs!! It's so easy!  All you do is drill two holes on either end of the door hanger or sign and then string it with twine.  It's so simple and gives the piece the rustic look we love.

To finish the door hanger we added a burlap bow to the center.  Here's our bow tie tutorial if you want a fancy bow for your door hanger.

Now you are all done!! You now have a personalized door hanger that will make the perfect gift for anyone in your life.  We gave this one to a friend as a housewarming gift!
