If you've been following Southern Color then you know our favorite craft machine is our Silhouette! Honestly, it's one of the best purchases we have ever made. The Silhouette allows you to personalize ordinary items and make them into something special. Today we are sharing with you a tutorial to create chalkboard labels that can be added to almost anything, like these cute mason jar tumblers!
We used Expressions Vinyl Chalkboard vinyl (affiliate link). This was our first time using products from Expressions Vinyl and we were very impressed with the quality and pricing of their vinyls.
We always use transfer tape to apply vinyl, you can purchase it at Expressions Vinyl too!
We hand wrote the letters on the mason jar tumblers using the chalkboard marker. We choose white but you could use any color: green, red, pink, purple. The chalkboard marker is awesome! The marker allows you to create crisp letters and fun details. Sometimes a real piece of chalk can be bulky to use. So we love using Expressions Vinyl's Chalkboard Marker!
We used Silhouette's Hole Punched Label for both the mason jar tumblers and beverage bucket. We set our Silhouette to cut vinyl material and used a blade depth of 4 (eventhough Silhouette recommended 2).

We love how these mason jar tumblers turned out! They are fun to use for a party and the label makes it easy for people to keep up with their drink.
Here is a quick tutorial on how to ungroup images in Silhouette Studio.
1. Open your hole-punched labels in your Silhouette Studio. You will have 6 labels to choose from. We wanted the ones without the holes around the edge.
2. Right click on the image and select "Ungroup".
3. Click off the image. When you click back on, the images will all be separate. Delete the ones you do not want to use.
