Tailgate Tuesday | Pizza Balls

UGA beat their biggest rival Florida this weekend, 17 to 9.
Go Dawgs!!!!!

This game is held in Jacksonville every year on neutral territory.  It's known as the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.  Last year it was reported that 50,000 ppl stayed at St. Simons Island in preparation for the game.  The beaches are covered with undergrads, alums and tons of fans; it's know as Frat Beach!

The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party needs some hearty food for the tailgaters.  Here's a Homemade Pizza Ball recipe from Six Sister's Stuff:

1 can of Pillsbury Pizza Crust, regular
1 jar of pizza marinara sauce
Toppings- 1 can pinneapple tidbits, 12 slices lunch ham (diced)
Shredded Mozzarella cheese
1 Tbsp. butter, melted
seasonings: Parmasean cheese, red pepper flakes, garlic, Italian seasonings

Roll out pizza dough on a lightly floured surface.
Cut the dough into about 24 equal squares.
Stuff with toppings - about 5 pineapple tidbits and 12 pieces of ham (diced).
Sprinkle some cheese on top, I did a small pinch.

Close up the balls by pinching together the dough.
Place the ball in a greased pan, seam side down.

Use a pan that is large enough so you don't have to stack the balls.  I stacked my pizza balls and it took forever to cook.

Brush on top the melted butter and sprinkle with seasonings.

Bake at 400 degrees fro about 15-20 minutes.
Mine took closer to 25 minutes, so just keep an eye on them.

Serve on a platter with marinara sauce (heated in the microwave).

Enjoy!
These were a big hit, everyone loved that it was a bite size of pizza.
And you can change out the toppings to whatever you like.

This Saturday we're heading up to Athens for the UGA v. Ole Miss game.
Check back next week for some Tailgate Fashion!

  1. Pizza balls! Holy moly. We had a restaurant open in CHS called "Pace's Pizza Balls" but unfortunately it didn't last. I never went there bc the way they made them sounded really bizarre. Making them at home like you did seems freaking fantastic though, haha

    1. A pizza ball restaurant sounds a little sketchy, but I promise they're tasty!! It's basically a tiny pizza calzone, you can't go wrong with that ;)
