Restaurant Review: Prince's Hot Chicken Shack

Morning!  Well, it's officially fall here in Atlanta!  It was 62 degrees when I left for work this morning, brr!!  This weather reminds me of football games, family camping trips, weekend soccer games and playing outside in racked leaves :)

I recently saw an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives that featured Prince's Hot Chicken.  So on my recent trip to Nashville, I demanded asked that we go here!

The restaurant is located in East Nashville in a run-down shopping center.  We drove around the parking lot twice before we saw the Prince's sign.

You order from the counter and take a number.  There are only about 8 tables in the restaurant, a lot of people were getting it to go.  The chicken is about $4 (depending on what piece you get) and sides are about $2.  For your side you can choose from potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans, pickles, or fries.

The spice flavors come in: mild, medium and hot.  Both Julia and I did the chicken breast in medium.  We then split a side of baked beans and potato salad.

The chicken is HOT!! Our mouths were on fire!
We both preferred taking the skin off and just eating the meat on the inside.  Way too spicy for me!

The fried chicken was perfectly cooked- the outside was crunchy and the inside was moist!  One thing to note, it took close to 45 mins for our chicken.  It was straight from the fryer when we got it.

Tip: they don't have fountain drinks, just a soda vending machine.  So bring your own bottled water or soda.

Have you tried a restaurant from Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?

Happy Monday!
