Chalk Paint Lamp

One of my favorite home decor stores is Kirkland's.  They have everything!  If you have never been they have artwork, mirrors, clocks, lamps, pillows, furniture, holiday stuff - pretty much anything.  Plus their prices are very reasonable.  Most of the artwork and mirrors in my home came from Kirkland's.   They don't create masterpieces but the artwork looks pretty good for the price and they come framed.

On a recent trip to Kirkland's I picked up this lamp.  I love the burlap shade!  The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the color of the base of the lamp.  It's pretty much the same color as the shade and doesn't really stand out.  So I decided to spruce it up with some paint!

I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Provence for the base of the lamp.  After painting the base with 2 coats of the chalk paint I then wiped a brown glaze over it.  As I wiped on the glaze some of the chalk paint came off and exposed the original color.  I wasn't planning for this to happen but I really like how it turned out.

Here's the finished result!  It looks great and now the burlap shade really stands out!

I wish all projects were this easy!
